Welcome Home!

This is the story of a dog named Pegz who came into our lives on September 24, 2011.

Pegz is a 10 year old (plus?) Plotthound with 3 legs. We adopted her from Angels. That is to say,  a local rescue organization in Western New York called Black Dog, Second Chance.

Pegz already had a “blog” of sorts when she came to us. There may be some good memories hidden in it, but they are probably mostly bad. The blog she brought with her was a lengthy medical record that attempted to patch together all the circumstances leading up to her losing her front left leg and having her back left leg badly damaged. And then there was that problem of being dumped in a high kill shelter by the people she trusted most in this world, probably not long after she was hit by the car that caused all these injuries.

But when you read between the lines, her old “blog” emerges as a heartwarming compilation of opinions of veterinarians and foster families trying to do the right thing in putting her back together. In total, it is the story of big hearts and good people trying to make it all better.

Today, Pegz is happy and healthy. She loves to eat, go for rides in the car and cuddle with 3 year old Chaz (black lab mix) and 1 year old Jinx, a gray tuxedo cat with a superiority complex.

Pegz’ new blog at Tripawds will be the story of her golden years … years which she will spend being treated like the warrior princess she is…in her forever home with us. ~

    Hi Jackie and Abby!
Funny you should mention it…when they told me she was a Plotthound, I said “a what”?? The best way to describe her is a tiny bit bigger than a beagle…with the look of a black lab/pit mix. But most definitely a hound!! I will be posting a pic and some info about her breed next.

Can’t wait to hear more about her. One of my favorite dogs ever where I used to volunteer was a plotthound. I’m looking forward to pictures and more blogging!

    Go forth.
